Bath Time

Carson's umbilical cord FINALLY fell off last Saturday. Yea!! I couldn't believe it took so long, 3 weeks and a day. Sydney's came off pretty quickly if I remember right. Anyway, our pediatrician said he could take a real bath, rather than a sponge bath, a week after the cord fell off. We only cheated a little and waited 5 days instead of 7. It looks like it's healed well though. He loved sitting in the water and Sydney had a blast getting to be in the bath with him. He did take a little tinkle straight into the air after sitting in the warm water for a few seconds. I've been told several times that little boys do that. It was so funny watching Sydney when she saw it going up in the air. This is not a new thing for Carson, but a first in the bath. He's tinkled a few times when you change his diaper or give him his sponge bath, but it's always been aimed at his own face. He gets so mad (as would I), but it's so hard to catch. I only have so many hands!! Having a little boy is definitely different in that department.

Carson's 1st Trip to Church

Last Sunday was Carson's first trip to church and my first day back since he was born. He was a really good boy. He slept the whole time!! He was definitely teasing me though...there were several times that he made that "I'm about to scream" face, but I was always ready with a passy to stick in his mouth or a hand to rock his seat. Didn't he look adorable in his little blue outfit. Thanks Laura!!

Sydney Loves Carson

What sweet sugar!
Sydney just loves holding Carson. She's pretty fond of stealing hugs and kisses too. She has been such a big girl and helps out a lot with him.

First Visit with Kyle

Don't they look terribly interested in each other.
My friend Valerie and her son Kyle came to visit us last Friday. Kyle was born January 27th, so he and Carson are close in age. We are looking forward to them being buddies as they grow up, but looks like it's going to take a little while. :)

Napping with Bubby

You can always count on Bubby for a good nap. In case you are wondering who Bubby is, he's my baby brother. Kyle was only 11 when Sydney was born, so he was a lot like a brother to her. She started calling him Bubby and that's been his name ever since.

Such a Hansome Boy

Carson is finally getting used to having his eyes open in the light and he's learning to deal with my camera flash. It's in his face a lot! I just thought these pictures were adorable and wanted to share them with you all.

Caught With My Eyes Open

Carson is starting to get used to the annoying camera flash. It took me a while to get a picture with his eyes open, he kept shutting them when the flash started. He has started staying awake and looking around more in the past few days. Today he had two long awake periods of about an hour and a half each. He has his shorter ones as well. It's so fun when he's happy, hanging out, and looking around.

Sleeping Habits

Carson loves to sleep with his hands over his head. He looks so cute!! Sydney used to do the same thing when she was a baby. He's also pretty fond of his bouncy chair. So far his night time sleeping habits are going well. Last night he slept for about 3 hrs. and 45 mins. at a time. He
would wake up to eat, have his diaper changed, and fall back asleep. Hopefully we'll keep this up or start sleeping longer at a time before long.

Little Piglet

We took Carson back to Dr. O'Neill's office for a weight check since he had only gained 1/2 an oz. at his week check up last Friday. Since Friday he has gained 4 oz. and is only 2.5 oz. away from being back to his birth weight. He's started eating about 3 oz. every 3 hours so hopefully we'll be there soon.

Easter 2007

Sydney is all dressed up for Church Easter morning.
The Easter Bunny left lots of neat stuff in Sydney and Carson's Easter baskets.
Sydney hunting Easter eggs.
Thanks to helpful hints from Cam and Uncle Ryan she finally found them all!

Easter was a little different at our house this year. Instead of getting up and all going to Church together, Cameron and Sydney had to go alone. Carson and I stayed home since he was only 9 days old and it was pretty cold outside. We didn't want to risk getting him sick. When they got home from Church we ate lunch with Mimi and Ryan, then headed out to hunt all the eggs the Easter Bunny had left. By the way, Sydney and Cameron had seen the Easter Bunny driving a convertible down the road (for real) by our house a day or two before, so we knew for sure he was in the neighborhood. Sydney got busy hunting and would shake every egg she found. She kept finding empty ones or so she thought. She really didn't like those eggs, so Ryan said he'd take them. She finally opened one up and realized that the empty sounding eggs had dollars in them. $$ She really racked up! It took a little hinting from Cameron and Ryan, but we finally found all the eggs. All the candy, dollars, and quarters in the eggs, and the fun things in her Easter basket made this a great day for Sydney!! Hopefully it was a great first Easter for Carson as well.

1 Week Check-Up and Pics

Daddy and Carson napping
Carson was all tired out from his visit with Anna Carol, Kerri, and Erin
Mommy and her little man
Carson with his eyes cracked. He hates the flash and won't let you catch him with his eyes open often.
Carson is now a week and 1 day old. He has been such a good baby so far! We had our first visit with Dr. O'Neill, Carson's pediatrician, yesterday. He thought everything looked great, although his weight hadn't increased as much as he would have liked. We've only gained 1/2 an ounce, so we're going back for a weight check next week. Dr. O'Neill didn't seem too concerned, but we're trying our best to fatten him up a little before then. Carson has already grown 1/2 an inch in length and his looked have changed so much. He gets more handsome everyday!!

The Best Big Sis

Sydney is doing such a great job being a big sister. Everyday when she gets home from school she sits and holds Carson for a while. This is usually when he really wakes up and looks around. If he starts to get fussy, she knows just what to do. You're awesome Syd!

Friends and Family

Anna Carol's first visit with Carson
Uncle Haydon must really love Carson...He's only stopped by to see us maybe twice in his 2 years at college. Carson is only 3 days old and he's already been down twice. Carson and Uncle Ryan - Practice Makes Perfect!
We are so thankful for all the wonderful family and friends we have. You guys have been so nice to come by and meet our new addition, bring dinners, do our shopping and laundry (Lolli and Nana), etc... We couldn't ask for better people to be surrounded by, we're very blessed. Sorry Grandparents...there are no pictures of you guys on here because the pictures of ya'll didn't get taken with my camera. We love you all!!

Carson's Birthday!!

Carson is getting cleaned up and checked out.
Cameron and I were laughing at his pouty, quivering lip.
Sydney's first time holding her new little brother.

Carson decided to make his appearance on Friday, March 30th, at 1:58 p.m. He weighed 7lbs. and 15 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. He's just perfect!! He has a head full of brown hair and the longest toes ever. Our first four days with him have been wonderful. Our first night home was somewhat sleepless, but he was so awesome and let us get some sleep last night. Sydney is a great big sister and just wants to hold him at every moment. She has taken pictures to show him off to everyone at school. We are so thankful to our wonderful family and friends that are doing so much for us. You'll never know how much your help and support are appreciated. There will be more pictures on our blog as soon as we get the chance.
