New Glasses and Chicken Pox

We took Sydney to the eye doctor this past Monday because we were worried that she wasn't seeing very well. We noticed when she would read books at home that she held them very close to her face. I had problems with reading when I was younger and we didn't find out that I needed glasses until 3rd grade. Once I got glasses reading was no big deal. I didn't want her to struggle for several years, so we went ahead and had them checked. Sure enough the doctor said that she was farsighted and her eyes were probably very strained when she was reading. He said that at some point she might want to wear her glasses all the time, but for now she just has to wear them for reading. She picked out some cute pink glasses and we got to pick the up on Wednesday. She was so excited!!

On the way home from picking up her glasses she kept complaining of her chest itching. She said she had an ant bite from school. When we got home I looked and her chest was covered in red bumps. They were also scattered all over the rest of her. She went to see Ashley's Aunt Becky, the pediatrician. Becky wasn't sure that they were chicken pox because they looked a little different. We ended up going to the doctor the next day and he confirmed that they were chicken pox. The doctor said that they probably weren't as bad and looked a little different because she has had the chicken pox vaccine. She was out of school Thursday and Friday, but was feeling much better by Saturday afternoon. She was very ready to go back to school today. I guess Carson and I aren't as fun as Mrs. Smith and her friends.

We are still hoping and praying that Carson doesn't get them, but the doctor said he should still have my immunity to them. We'll see!!
